ISA Science City held its Back-to-School Night and Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration on last Monday to mark the start of the new school year. The annual Back-to-School Night is a meaningful ceremony that marks the beginning of the new school year. Its purpose is to strengthen the bonds between all members of our community and promote communication between the home and school.
During this summer, some students were engaged in biomedical research, some were participating in academic roundtable discussions, and others were actively preparing for competitions to gain admission to Ivy League schools. The new academic year is finally here. Accordingly, ISA International Education Group and all the campuses have recently undertaken orientation weeks to help welcome our team members. These orientation weeks focused mainly on teaching strategies and community development plans. For new employees, this training is a crucial starting point for integrating into the ISA community, allowing them to learn about ISA’s educational philosophy and core values. For all staff, it clarifies the goals for the upcoming year. The orientation weeks empower staff to improve their professional skills and unlock their innovative potential, fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment as they prepare the new term for our students.
In the heat of August, new students entering grades 9 and 10 arrived at The ISA Liwan Transition Camp 2024 to fully prepare themselves for the upcoming international curriculum. Recently, they concluded this fulfilling and busy camp with a grand closing ceremony, marking the end of their two weeks filled with laughter. Having experienced two weeks of diverse subjects, engaging activities, and innovative learning formats, the incoming 2024 cohort is brimming with confidence about their future academic journey.
With the start of the school year just around the corner, a wave of learning is once again taking place at the ISA Wuhan campus. From the 21st to the 28th of August, new and old staff from more than 30 countries and regions returned to the campus of ISA Wuhan to learn about the academic strategy, teaching preparations, curriculum and student management, as well as to work together to set up the development goals for the new academic year, members of the ISA community gathered together to get ready for the upcoming semester!
During this 12-day, USA study tour, students gained insight into the cutting-edge artificial intelligence tool, ChatGPT. They learned about entrepreneurship and innovative thinking in the STEAM fields within Stanford University's classrooms and experienced world-class, innovative technology by visiting Silicon Valley. While appreciating AI technology, we also explored in depth the history and development of Western science and technology and local regional culture.
As summer arrives, ISA campuses come alive with a vibrant array of summer camps. These enriching programmes offer students the opportunity to delve into new subjects, hone their skills, and explore their passions. From immersive language courses to STEM workshops, our summer activities are designed to help students make the most of their summer break while fostering a love for lifelong learning.
From July 1-26, ISA Science City hosted a groundbreaking summer camp designed to provide students with engaging and enriching activities, fostering new friendships, and a love for learning. The camp's motto, "Discover, Create, and Explore," encapsulated our mission to create opportunities for students to uncover new knowledge and experiences.
Over the course of 11 days during the recent Summer Holiday, students embarked on an artistic exploration of London. Guided by their instructors, they explored the streets and alleys, learning about British history and architecture. Students experienced authentic British teaching at Central Saint Martins Arts College, admiring the British version of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, and engaging in face-to-face conversations with admissions officers and professors from prestigious universities.
On the 20th of July, the ISA Wuhan 2024 Global Academician Workshop was successfully completed! 15 G10/G11 students and Professor John Biggins, Tenured Professor of Soft Matter Engineering at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge, spent a week brainstorming on the topic of "Engineering Frontier & Smart Manufacturing".
On April 22nd – 26th ISA Science City celebrated a week of learning and fun with our World Language & Book Week. This year’s theme was “My Language. My Story.” with the medium of Graphic Novels. This theme was chosen for a few reasons. The graphic novel genre is our most read genre in all sub-schools on campus. Graphic novels are a form of literature that crosses all boundaries and borders. They are also one of the most easily accessible types of literature that currently exists.
On the sunny and breezy day of 25 May, a group of ISA students visited the Guangdong Food and Drug Vocational-Technical School (GDFDVTS), embarking on a fascinating journey to explore the millennium-old culture of traditional Chinese medicine.
Recently, a unique TOK (Theory of Knowledge) exhibition was held at Guangzhou Foreign Language School. G11 students showcased their thinking on various topics, exploring the connections between disciplines and the essence of knowledge.
On April 27, with strong support from the Education Bureau, Science and Technology Bureau, and the Association for Science and Technology of Huangpu District, Guangzhou, the ISA Science City International Innovation Centre was inaugurated. The event brought together top Chinese and international representatives from the education industry and innovative businesses. The event also attracted distinguished scholars, industry experts, business leaders, teachers and students from various schools across the Huangpu District. Together the guests explored how STEAM education cultivates innovative and talented students who will lead the future.
Based on the English learning needs of people with disabilities and the strengths of ISA students, we regularly provided online and on-site English learning support services to the disabled people of the Guangdong Disabled Education Development Foundation. Each lesson lasts 3 hours and is held once a week. Our goal is to help these people overcome barriers and move forward in their English learning journey.
2024 ISA Cup International Piano Competition Awards Ceremony and PAI Musical Concert were held on April 13th at Auditorium of ISA Liwan School in Guangzhou. The whole event brought a wonderful audio-visual feast to the audience.
How many ways can you start writing at ISA Wuhan? In March, ISAWHIS celebrated the long-awaited "Writing Month". Students from KG to IBDP ignited their passion for writing by making postcards, drawing comic book, writing autobiographies, compiling news, writing novels and more!
To further deepen our collaboration and inject new vitality into the field of international education, ISA International Education Group organised a recruitment event at Tsinghua University from March 21st to March 23rd. The event aimed to attract outstanding graduates from Tsinghua University to join the education industry, infusing innovative thinking into ISA's educational practices, and raising the overall talent and academic standards of the international education sector.
From March 15th to 16th, the education support charity activity, led by the Parent Committee of ISA Liwan School, together with Guang Dong Soong Ching Ling Foundation Yuan Fang Fraternity Project and ISA Charity Fund, was successfully concluded in Lianzhou. Students, teachers, and school leaders from ISA Liwan traveled to Lianzhou, bringing along trees, over 2000 books, children's English learning systems, and boundless love. Their aim was to enhance the beauty of Lianzhou, contribute to the literary atmosphere within the schools, and collectively support the high-quality development of local education.
In celebration of the Year of the Dragon, New Year festivities were hosted across ISA campuses, honoring this significant Chinese tradition. Committed to fostering an appreciation of traditional Chinese culture, ISA prioritizes cultivating students' understanding and knowledge of Chinese culture.
The basketball match between ISA Tianhe and Benenden Bilingual School took place at Benenden on 16th January. It was the first basketball match since before covid and it was worth the wait!
On each day, after boisterous opening ceremonies at the Atrium, where houses competed for the loudest-cheer prize, each sub school depart to their first activities. Early Years students competed at stations on the field and in the Sports Hall, primary students headed to the sports field for races and football, and our secondary students tried their hand at basketball, running and throwing events.
On December 20th, Mr. Liu Xiaoming, former Chinese Ambassador to the UK, and his wife visited ISA Liwan. As the first guest of ISA Liwan “Master’s Talk” series, Mr. Liu gave a lecture titled "Tell China's Story Well" to the students. This was also the first time that Mr. Liu gave a lecture to an audience with less than a university degree. The students of ISA Liwan were truly fortunate.
Thank you for joining us on Saturday December 9th, 2023, in ISA Science City for the annual ISA Festival. As we enjoy this mild winter, we reflect on how quickly time seems to have passed, and how rapidly the seasons have changed. This year the theme of the ISA festival was ‘New Horizons’. We used this opportunity to showcase the infinite possibilities of technology and the infinite opportunities that lie ahead in the future. Students and their families, teachers, guests from consulates, business chambers, enterprises and other industries gathered to enjoy a spectacular carnival atmosphere featuring demonstrations of technology, stage performances, charitable activities, and ‘flash mob’ dances.
On December 2nd, the "ISA Festival," the annual community celebration at the ISA Wuhan Education Campus, took place as winter came to a close, culminating in a resounding success. Over 30 countries, more than 2,000 ISA students, parents, consulates, chambers of commerce, returned overseas Chinese, representatives of well-known enterprises, and elites from all walks of life who wish to participate in the deep integration of world cultures around the world gathered at ISA Wuhan once again.
All things hide, the beginning of winter. From November 10th to 11th, a total of 1,000 faculty, parents, and student volunteers from nine ISA schools and programs in Wuhan and Guangzhou came together for the fifth ISAIEG Professional Learning Conference under the theme of “Clarity, Consistency, Commitment, To Exceed Expectations”. We engaged in online and on-site learning activities focused on 165 topics of exploration and practical projects, aiming to create a collaborative and innovative learning community. With a consistent commitment to excellence, ISA moves forward united, working together to exceed expectations.
Over 900 ISA staff members attended the fifth ISA Professional Learning Conference (PLC) at ISA Science City and ISA Wuhan on Friday and Saturday 10-11 November. It was very clear that the ISA PLC has improved through the years and now enjoys the standard of a conference that you would encounter in a large, long-standing, professional organisation.
ISA Liwan has always been a welcoming home enriched with diverse cultures. In the past week, we hosted a special Campaign - "ISA Liwan Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Week." This event is not only about our students; it's also about building a bridge of compassion with the Guangzhou community. On the evening of October 30th, ISA Liwan hosted a spectacular dinner, themed around Australian cuisine. The entire restaurant was adorned with Australian features, from Indigenous art hanging on the walls to the exquisite tableware, exuding the unique charm of Australia.

This October, we celebrate the "Reading Month". As one of the most expected activities of the new semester, each division of ISA Wuhan International School carried out this event with creative and interesting activities, ranging from Crazy Sock Day, Read My T-Shirt, Dress Up Day, Decorate Your Bookmark, to Read In Your Closet, Book Swap, and Library Field Trip.
G12 Students recently participated in their Theory of Knowledge Exhibition, where they had an opportunity to share their work with the ISASC community. The Exhibition is one of two assessments in the TOK course, which focuses on the ways in which we acquire, verify, and communicate knowledge. Students are tasked with curating the exhibition which explores a predetermined prompt and the ways in which the prompt manifests itself in the real world. It was a remarkable opportunity for students and teachers, family, and peers to engage in long form discussion of knowledge issues.
On September 26th, ISA Liwan School hosted the “Mid Autumn Festival Celebration”, performed amidst laughter and joy. This marked the first major festival celebration of the new school year for ISA Liwan School, with students, parents, and staff, both local and international, gathering in the picturesque and fragrant campus, adorned in traditional Chinese attire, to celebrate and welcome the Mid-Autumn Festival.
As the summer heat fades away, our new school year has arrived. After a fantastic summer vacation, ISA has opened a brand new chapter. The first day of school brings with it new expectations and hopes for both our older students who return to school and those new students who have just joined ISA. At the Orientation Day, students and parents were given the opportunity to learn more about the teachers, daily school life and curricula, in order to help prepare students for their future studies. On the first day of school, ISA welcomed every student and looks forward to growing with them and creating wonderful memories together.
ISA Wuhan held a professional Induction Programme from August 21 to 23, ranging from teachers' orientation to preparations for the start of the new term, to professional training, so to ensure that the school departments to adjust to the best status to fully prepare for the start of a new school year.

Bathed in the warm summer sunshine, with a gentle breeze and verdant greenery, ISA Liwan joyfully welcomed its culminating event of the academic year - the inaugural Grassland Music Festival and Trial Classes (EY to High School)! Held on June 17th, this remarkable gathering brought together music, gastronomy, and delightful moments of interaction between students, families, and teachers. It was a captivating occasion to explore the unique allure, core principles, and architectural splendour of ISA Liwan.
ISA Tianhe held International Children’s Day successfully on June 1st. The theme of the event was The Seven Continents. The children had a great time on that day, experiencing booth games, receiving gifts and performing. The event was full of fun and knowledge. Children learned a lot of geographic knowledge through the booth game and performance. The Seven Continents echoed the PYP exhibition "Sharing the Planet", which called on all members of the ISA Tianhe community to protect the environment.
Last week, the 2023 IB Community Project Exhibition was held in Guangzhou Foreign Language School. In the past academic year, IB students of Guangzhou Foreign Language School ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme worked with the theme of "Love × World" in the course of Community Project, focused on real-life communities, carried out projects, and made suggestions for building a better world in the future. In this exhibition, all the students from the IB G10-4 class presented in groups what they have put in practice and harvested in the course of Community Project in the past academic year.
This ISA Festival brought together all members of the ISA family and the guests, including teachers, students, parents, members of overseas business associations, well-known enterprises, and other members of society came to ISA Wuhan School, jointly sharing a sensory feast of multicultural integration through various activities such as raising money for charity, diversify culture performances, creative shows, and exhibitions of students’ work.
In ISA Tianhe, a Chinese elective course is a traditional Chinese cultural inquiry course that students take in addition to compulsory courses. From EY1 to Y5, each class had a school year-long exploration of traditional Chinese culture based on a cultural theme. Guided by questions and started by concepts to conduct inquiry activities, students become independent learners during exploration. They better understand Chinese culture, find its value in modern society, and inherit better and more innovative traditional Chinese culture.
The protection and rescue of stray animals has always been a research topic for our students as well. Life education cannot be limited to classroom teaching. We want students to step out of the campus, go deep into the community, and experience the diversity of life. Therefore this time, we took students from ISA SC to the “Warm House Pet Adoption Center”.
Reading is a way to enlighten people's minds. ISA Liwan values, cultivates and encourages a lot of readings for every student. Book Week, an annual event designed to inspire and foster a passion for literary learning and reading, from the Book Character Parade to PAJAMA Reading Party, our annual highlight in the school calendar – Book Week 2023.
Following a wonderful Book Week, ISA Science City International School followed up last week with its annual World Languages Week, a full week of celebrating multicultural and multilingual characteristics of the campus, which concluded with the long-awaited "International Family Fun Fair."
World Book Day was celebrated on 23rd April. In this week, ISA Tianhe thus launched the sixth annual Book Week. This year's Book Week theme was Fairytale, and the children were engaged in a week-long series of diverse activities based on this theme. William Shakespeare said, "They are the books, the arts, the academes, That show, contain and nourish all the world." At ISA Tianhe, we believe that the impact of reading on a child's development is immense, and reading stimulates their creativity and imagination. Through several enriching and fun activities, students developed a habit and interest in reading.
To express the best wishes to the first batch of graduates from Guangzhou Foreign Language School ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme, enhance the emotional connection among the students, and leave a good memory for the students who are about to leave the school and embark on a new journey in their life, GZFLS ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme held an event of basketball farewell games in the graudation season.
The third annual "Walkathon" was successfully held on April 20, 2023, which was led by the ISA Tianhe Student Council. "Walkathon" is based on the concept of "sports + charity", encouraged students to complete as many laps as they can within one hour, and encouraged community members to donate supplies by laps for charity. All the supplies raised will be donated to homeless people in Guangzhou and the charity organisation “Homeless Love”.
On April 15, the ISA Charity Fund once again visited the Guangzhou Tianyun Social Work Service Center to carry out an integration charity activity. Fifteen student volunteers from ISA Tianhe School were randomly paired with children from Tianyun Social Work Service Center and worked in small groups. Staff of ISA Tianhe, ISA Science City and ISA International Academy also participated in this activity.
Spring is a wonderful time of the year, not only because it is a time of rebirth, a time of all the flowers that bloom throughout Guangzhou, but also a time when our IB Visual Arts diploma students prepare for their final exhibition, which opened at the GZFLS ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme on Thursday 6 April 2023.
On 7 April, French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Guangzhou and held a "Meeting with Chinese Youth" event at Sun Yat-sen University. Keira Long, a student at Guangzhou Foreign Language School ISA Wenhua IB Diploma Programme, was invited to participate in this event as one of the only secondary school student team members in the audience!
The spring starts again, and all things are fresh and new. Amidst the fragrance of flowers and books our Boya school ushered in the 2023 Open House Day (teaching). On the one hand, this open house day allows teachers to discuss and exchange education and teaching methods and experiences with other teachers, and on the other hand, it provides an opportunity for parents of existing students to enter the real classrooms and build a bridge of communication between parents and school.
Time flashed and seasons passed. In this thriving spring, thank you for being here with us writing the new chapter. The ISA Festival, with the theme of ‘Rhythm of Seasons’, followed seasons as a clue, together, we unveiled the beauty and charm.
On March 5, six international teachers from ISA Schools and programmes designed interesting trial classes in specific areas for Grade 8 students in Hengrun Experimental School on the theme of ‘What skills we have cannot be replaced by AI in the ChatGPT era’.
We are very happy to see our children back to school again and welcome new families joining us, to embark their new journey in a new semester. Back to School Night was held in ISA Tianhe International School of Guangzhou on Thursday, February 23rd. We invited all the parents, members of school leadership team and teachers to meet and communicate with each other in a relaxed and comfortable way.
Time flies and it is finally coming to a new year. It is the contributions and efforts of all ISA teachers, staff and families that gets us where we are today. Music brings joy to the campus at ISA Science City. Last Friday, the students of the Secondary School, led by Mr Rosario, the school's music teacher, gave a wonderfully spirited "Lunch Concert" performance. The students performed with confidence and enthusiasm, presenting the audience with a beautiful ensemble of singing, piano, drums and strings, etc.
On Friday 23 September 2022, ISA Wuhan held its first ever Open House. This is a regular event which will be organised every Friday. The campus opened its doors for its founding parents to come in and see high quality education being delivered first-hand.
The 2022 Guangdong Province International School Junior Golf Invitational Tournament Second Station was held at the Nansha Golf Club on Sunday, September 18th.
This week, the second week of the school year at ISA Science City, we are delighted to see that the students are getting into the swing of things and that the communication between home and school is getting stronger. To celebrate a successful start to the school year and to further strengthen the emotional ties between members of the growing school community, ISASC held a 'Back to School Night' celebration after school on Thursday to capture the heartwarming moments when students, parents and school team members came together to interact with each other.
The 2nd Online Chinese Language Festival was held from November 2021 to May 2022. ISA Tianhe students actively participated in the competition and confidently demonstrated their Chinese language and understanding of Chinese culture. They achieved great results in pen calligraphy, solo recitation of ancient Chinese poetry, Chinese writing, brush calligraphy, Chinese storytelling, tongue twisters, solo recitation of modern Chinese poetry, and the creation of four-frame comics. A total of 14 students won 18 awards, including 4 First prize, 6 Second prize, 6 Third prize, and 2 Award of Merit.
On August 25th, the ISA A Level welcome event for the new academic year was successfully held. This gathering brought together all parents and students, allowing them to get to know one another and providing an opportunity for parents and students to gain a clearer understanding of ISA's community culture.
As the summer heat dissipates, the golden days of autumn, which signify the harvest, are upon us. After a summer break, children, when you move up to class, whether for the first time or when you step into this campus again, it means that you have entered a new school year, and that growth is quietly coming.

With the new academic year ahead, our faculty team are in position ready for the new semester. We recently organized the third ISA Professional Learning Conference on August 18 and 19 in order to be well prepared for welcoming ISA students back to school, to improve the teaching and services we provide, to support our teachers and administrative staff through an efficient working system, as well as to maintain ISA community with team-spirits as its core.
On August 26, ISA Tianhe held the Orientation Day for all the new families. They were given the opportunity to meet the teachers, consult information of school life and attend trial classes, which helped them know more about the school and blend in the school life nicely in the coming new academic year.

As an IB school, caring, responsibility and empathy are key points in the IB attributes system, which makes the development of a sense of community among students an integral part of the school's education. As a bridge, the ISA Charity Fund brings charitable targets to campus that need help and support, providing students with an opportunity to use the knowledge and skills that they have learnt in class to contribute to such charity projects. Let's look at how the children at ISA Tianhe School made their ideas come to life for charity purposes.
During last year's outbreak of Covid 19 in Wuhan, ISA Charity Fund mobilized members of the ISA community to collect various kinds of emergency supplies and rushed to help the epidemic prevention and control work in Wuhan, Hubei Province. This time, in face of the local outbreak in Guangzhou, we are duty bound to help our local community neighbours.
Since the outbreak of the epidemichappened, the ISA Charity Fund, with the spirit of social responsibility, mobilized all resources to raise materials, and mobilized members of ISA community to raise funds and donations for anti-epidemic and anti-disaster. The people's love was reflected in the ISA Funding. The donations and materials have reached the places in China where the relief was most needed. After the first batch of anti-epidemic materials donated on February 4th, the second batch of materials reached Hubei area on February 24.
At the beginning of the New Year in 2020, the outbreak of the new coronavirus was so rapid that there was a shortage of protective materials nationwide. As a charity organization, ISA Funding has been doing its best to raise materials since the outbreak of the epidemic with the purpose of " Being people-oriented ".
